We plan and use our resource as a tool to improve, generate and support our mission objectives. We meet regularly to discuss our daily activities in the leaders’ meeting and general meetings.

Ask yourself these eight questions to understand your motivations and where you might fit in. Once you’ve answered these questions truthfully and fully, you’re ready to move on to the exploration and planning stages.

  1. INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERING: TIPS FOR GETTING STARTED

What can you do? Determine where your skills lie, what skills you’d like to develop, and how far you’re willing to go outside your comfort zone. Can you dig water wells or otherwise help improve infrastructure? Do you have a background in medical, law or small business?

Do some local volunteer work to have a better understanding of how organizations work, what they expect of their volunteers, and what it’s like to be a volunteer.

Start doing some research on the volunteer opportunities available throughout the world based on your interests, skills and goals. Narrow down to 5-10 organizations and find out if you meet criteria and what additional things you’ll need to do in order to qualify and be allowed to travel. Now is the time to request more information and talk with the organizations you’re the most interested in.

Before committing to several months of volunteer work far from home, consider a short stint of a week or two to see what it’s really like.

Check out dates for the opportunities you’re interested in. While some opportunities allow you to arrive and depart anytime, many are project based and require specific dates of commitment.

  1. WHAT DO WE DO?

IIMGC is dedicated to eradicate social and economic conditions which prevent individuals from acquiring basic human standard of living recognized in international law. Our staffs includes our local and foreign volunteers who work closely as teams to provide help and support to the general public under our care to ensure that their living conditions meet basic human rights standards, by making sure their overall needs are met. The volunteers act as a liaison and advocate for the people in target areas. In the process of assessing and identifying the needs of the less privileged, the involvement of the community who will be the beneficiaries will be of great importance as well that of the community leaders and stakeholders available in the areas, from district level to top government officials.

Leaders and volunteers encourage the local communities in a mutual beneficial relationship so as to achieved a good working relationship as well as achieve excellent results that will transform their socioeconomic status bring about development, peace and justice.

  1.  WHAT IS OUR OBJECTIVE?

Our main objectives will involve carrying out trainings, advocacies, campaigns, and implement programs/projects. Girls/Boys/Youths/Women out of school will be given vocational education & training on a number of basic skills including, but is not limited to; tailoring skills, chauffeur, mechanics, carpentry, Plumbing, Computer/programming (ICT), beauty skills, catering, nanny, babysitting, providing them with start-up capital in form of tailoring equipment/machine, beauty salons etc.

This list is not exhaustive and if any of the Girls/Boys/Youths /Women exhibit a particular talent in an area which is not listed above, we will accommodate these.

  1. DRUG ADDICTION, MANUFACTURERS AND PEDDLERS INCLUDING DRUG MULE?

Yes; we are also concerned about the menace of drug abuse in our society/globally. We hope to initiate proactive sensitization/campaign and fundraising process for the general public to avoid being victims of human trafficking to ferry drugs across international borders popularly known as 'drug mules'  wherein the victims are made to swallow balloons containing illicit drugs and are then transported across borders who may likely die before or on reaching their final destination and/or subjected to various inhuman treatments in the process of retrieving the ingested balloons from the victim's body, most cases they end up dead. Initiatives are under process to set up skills acquisition centres for the victims of drug abuse and their families.

Provide Drug rehabilitation centres within the six (6) geopolitical regions of the federation for re-orientation of both offenders and addicts by providing training through our partnership with NASENI through the following consultancy services:

  2. Mental Health Services

  3. Medical Services

  4. Educational Services

  5. HIV/AIDS Services

  6. Legal Services

  7. Family Services

These would be achieved through Assessment, Evidence-Based Treatment, Substance Use Monitoring, Clinical and Case Management, Recovery Support Programs and Continuing Care.

In order to integrate them back into the society (often drug rehab or just rehab) is a term for the processes of medical or psychotherapeutic treatment, for dependency on psychoactive substances such as alcohol, prescription drugs, and street drugs such as cocaine, heroin or amphetamines.      

The balloons are made with multi-layered condoms and are often force fed to the victim. The traffickers use a special machine to open the condom and put drugs into it. On many occasions, the drug mules are first given a soup laced with drugs to numb their throats. The soup is very oily and makes the balloons slide down their throat. The victim's mouth can also be sprayed with anaesthesia, enabling them to swallow up to 120 balloons. A drug mule may be forced to swallow up to one kg of illicit drugs and this painful procedure can lead to serious injuries in the throat.

  1.  WHO SHOULD BE INVOLVED?

The volunteer / must be 18+ years old. We’, ‘us’, ‘our’ and ` Volunteer internship program under Volunteers Initiative. Full / Temporal membership is available and he/she must be sound in mind and should not have any criminal records that might be detrimental to their lives and the lives of our beneficiaries. Volunteers are not necessarily members unless they wish to become members.

IIMGC does not discriminate however we allow eligible persons including persons with disability to apply for volunteer jobs with us as long as he/she does not require assistance to work.

  1. FOREIGNERS-INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS AND LOCALS?

Foreigners also known as  (International Volunteers) are welcome to apply but must provide a Volunteer-Fee which will enable us process and provide necessary assistance to make sure their stay with us is a comfortable one IIMGC is running on low fund programs and running costs are solely donated by members and well-wishers. Therefore the fee will help us a long way.

  1. ARE THEIR FEES TO BE PAIDS BEFORE VOLUNTEERING?

 Yes; all foreign Volunteers are expected to pay for their volunteer placements costs depending on the duration of their stay.

  1. IIMGC FOREIGN VOLUNTEER PROGRAM COST INCLUDES:

  1. All accommodations during the volunteer Participant’s specified IIMGC Program dates

  2. At least three (2) meals per day on the Volunteer Program and Adventure Tour, minus five (5) lunches on Adventure Tour

  3. National park fees

  4. All Program ground, water, minus air transportation in the host country

  5. All organization and associated fees charged in the host country

  6. Accommodation

  7. Orientation(s) in host country

  8. Program management and program arrangements 

  9. Administration and recruitment costs

  10. IIMGC Team Leaders that are fully certified with certificates

  11. IIMGC travel informational packet and information to prepare for IIMGC programs

  12. All materials and tools to complete IIMGC volunteer initiatives 

  13. IIMGC T-Shirt/Face caps/Souvenir

  14. IIMGC ID Cards

  1. PLEASE NOTE THAT IIMGC PROGRAM COST DOES NOT INCLUDE:

  1. Air transportation to the host country and all other associated air taxes, ticket fees, and any country departure taxes 

  2. All transportation and accommodation costs prior to and subsequent to the volunteer Participant’s program dates

  3. Medical/Health/Travel/ insurance

  4. Medical and travel/trip cancellation insurance (required)

  5. Passports (required), travel visas (where necessary we might assist in visa processing) and any vaccinations or medications (if required by Participant’s physician)

  6. Any additional, optional activities available for volunteer Participants during both the Volunteer Tour and Adventure Tour including, but not limited to, deep sea fishing (NOT AVAILABLE/ APPLICABLE IN SOME LOCATIONS) and PADI certification***

  7. Academic or Internship credits however we notable provide certificate

  1. ARE LOCALS EXPECTED TO PAY FOR VOLUNTEERING?

No; but due to the low funds and lack of resource we ask local volunteers to pay for their own materials e.g. ID, form processing fee, T-shirt , File and reading materials. We do not provide stipends for now but we hope to do so in the near future and we are working towards making it worthwhile for our volunteers. However should a local decided to become a member he/she must pay the membership fee to become a member and must undergo a membership training in other to fully participate in the IIMGC programs.

  1. DO YOU ALSO PROVIDE INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM?

   Yes of course; but we are yet to start as we are still making good efforts to provide the best exchange programs for our members. In other to participate in this program volunteers must become a member of our organization in which case we will provide training, moral standards and examination before a member can be eligible to participate in the program. However there are good recommendable organizations we can recommend for you.

  1. DETAILS OF PLACEMENT AND LOCATION?

It is a condition of your booking that you are prepared to be flexible in relation to your placement and location. If you are not happy with the placement offered or a suitable alternative cannot be offered, we will not refund any money you have paid us because we use the money for administrative costs. Once we received your intended offer to render your services we ensure that we provide training for the program orientation and any other administrative support for processing your application, any money received is immediately put to use for the program.

Once a payment is made we give a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of 72 hours for Cancellation and Refunds (CR) however 25-45% of the total sum will be deducted from your money this is due to the exchange rate which is unstable as we have to refund you back in the currency you sent to us. (Contact us for more details ivolunteer@gmail.com / iimgcinterns@gmail.com ) include your Name, age and location.

  1.  WHY DO WE NEED TO CHECK YOUR RECORDS?

 In order to process your application for a placement, you will be asked to provide a suitable reference and health check and/or criminal check. You/your doctor may also be asked to provide additional information on your health. We are also entitled to carry out a check on you with the Criminal Records Check (CRC) (or any equivalent body).

  1.  WILL I BE HELD LIABLE IF I FAIL TO PROVIDE ACCURATE INFORMATION?

If in our opinion, the reference and/or health information and/or criminal check we receive about you or any other information you provide make you unsuitable for your chosen placement, we are entitled to refuse to proceed further with your application. In these circumstances we will not refund your deposit in order to cover our costs in processing your application and placement arrangement. We honestly believe that all statements made are factual and correct. Every reasonable effort has been made to describe the placement and to provide the amenities described. We cannot therefore be held responsible for any changes that become known after the brochure was produced (up-to-date information can be found on the website), nor can we accept liability for happenings outside our reasonable control. We undertake to advise you of any material changes known to us prior to your departure. You are also advised to obtain any relevant information you need from IIMGC.

  1.  DOES IIMGC PROVIDE ACCOMODATION?

Accommodation:

IIMGC arranges accommodation during program orientation and placement period from your program cost. In placement accommodation, your sleeping arrangements may be private or shared, and in most cases you will be required to share a bathroom and toilet facilities. It is Important for you to realize that bathroom and toilet facilities and standards of hygiene will be in accordance with local standards. These facilities and standards may sometimes be very basic. You must be prepared to cope with this.

  1.  DOES IIMGC PROVIDE FEEDING?

Food:

Three meals a day throughout your training and placement, which will be of a suitable quality or quantity by local standards. If you wish to supplement your diet with other foods the responsibility of these expenses are yours. We will only cover food and accommodation for the period agreed for your placement and only at your placement and training. For example if you go trekking or wish to stay in the country you are volunteering for after your agreed period of placement has expired you will be responsible for your own expenses. If you decide to go away during your placement we cannot refund you any monies and you do this at your own cost.  In most cases you will be staying with a host family/NGO/hotel after the program orientation. Except on diet cases and adverse health cases e.g allergies) which may incur extra charges you may require to get a separate food. Should you have any condition you should let us know before your arrival. Should you wish to return to the city during the weekends, you must cover your food and accommodation cost.

  1.  WHAT ARE THE TRAINING PROCEDURES?

Training / Program Orientation:

You will receive a training / orientation in English language and optional Hausa/Yoruba etc, culture, program related topics e.g. TEFL TIPs. The length of training depends on (2 days to a week) the nature of work and length of your stay with IIMGC. Training / orientation is part of your volunteering program. You should not take it as optional. You should be clear about your work plan and schedule provided for you during this phase. If you wish to visit the community during the program orientation phase, IIMGC will take you there so that you have better understanding about the community you will be working for. You will also be taken to one day sightseeing in the nearby province/village to help you develop insight on cultural and historical sights. This is also covered by your program cost.

 

 

  1.  WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MY TRAVELLING COSTS?

Travel:

You are responsible for arranging and paying for your own travel (including your air fare) to the airport closest to your placement, and for your return journey at the end of your placement. We will not plan a program until you have sent us your flight details. We are unable to reimburse or otherwise be responsible for any flight, travel or other costs or expenses of any nature for example if your flight is cancelled. Your program cost does not cover your transportation of any nature.

  1.  DO YOU HAVE ANY PICK UP ARRANGEMENTS?

Collection from the Airport:

Upon receipt of your flight details we will organize for you to be picked up from the airport.

  1.  WHAT ABOUT MY ACCOMODATIONS?

Accommodation:

This is covered by your program cost and as such there will be no charge for this and we will endeavour to do our very best to be on time. We cannot be held accountable for problems such as traffic jam but we will do our best to meet you punctually. Also please note that we are not allowed into the arrivals hall of the airport so we will meet you just outside with a name plate.

  1.  WHAT ABOUT OTHER EXPENSES?

Other Expenses:

You are responsible for all of your personal expenses during your training and placement, which includes, drinks and entertainment, the cost of transport from your placement to other activities such as trekking or checking email. This is not expensive and we can provide approximate costs if you request them at our office. As a volunteer, you agree that you will not request any payment from the organization responsible for your placement. You will be placed adjacent to the working site; hence IIMGC does not cover any travel expenses. You will cover your departure transportation and taxi.  You will be responsible for VISA extension cost.

  1.  DO I PROVIDE MY TRAVELLING INSURANCE?

Travel Insurance:

You will be responsible for arranging your travel and medical insurance cover for the period of your placement; you are responsible for ensuring that the amount and type of cover is sufficient and appropriate for the nature and location of your placement. You must provide us with a copy of your certificate of insurance as soon as possible. This insurance should at least cover; the cost of cancellation of the placement by you; the cost of assistance including repatriation in the event of accident or illness; legal liability and expenses; loss of baggage; cancelled flights; medical expenses; kidnapping; liability arising due to personal injury to you or a third party; cancellation of your placement for any other reason including our liquidation or any other reason beyond our control. Problems during your Placement.

You are responsible for trying to sort out any problems that may arise during your placement, however, in the event that you experience any difficulties, IIMGC local staffs will be available and will do their best to assist you. He/she may also be able to provide practical help should you need to return to your country of abode before completion of your placement as a result of illness or other personal reason (although you are financially responsible for the costs of this, either under your insurance policy or otherwise). If it is imperative that you do leave your placement, for example due to serious medical problems, then we will either hold your money in credit until you can resume your placement for a period up to one calendar year or at the discretion of IIMGC we may be able to refund you an appropriate amount, for example minus the training, exchange rate and administration costs. It is important to remember that our staff will be available at limited times only and will be able to provide limited support. The nature of your placement is that you are able to show a high level of independence, flexibility and initiatives in dealing with problems yourself as they arise.

  1.  ABOUT OUR STAFF/MEMBERS/VOLUNTEERS:

 Our staff will take all reasonable steps to arrange a safe placement with a consistent level of work throughout, but we may not have any direct control over your placement. We cannot guarantee your level of work. You are responsible for taking every day common sense steps as an independent traveller to protect your safety on a day to day basis.

  1.  AM I OBLIGATED TO COMPLY WITH ALL STATED RULES?

Obligations:

You must comply with any reasonable request by your placement. This may involve being transferred to a site in the locality provided that this would not place you in any danger and the travel to the appropriate site is reasonable, or that suitable accommodation is provided. (You are not responsible for any reasonable travel costs incurred in doing this). You must not enter into any direct negotiations or contractual arrangement for employment during your placement.

  1.  WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

To be Eligible you must agree and provide the following qualities:

  1. Up to six months valid identification documents e.g. Travelers international passport.

  2. Colored copy of International Travel Document/ National Identity/Document/ Other.

  3. Clear colour scan 4x4 coloured passport photographs (white background).

  4. Curriculum Vitae and cover letter

  5. A certified health report.

  6. Travel and Health Insurance.   

  7. Must provide Two (2) References.

 

Everyone from 18 years is eligible. But you must possess these qualities:

You must accept to take care of and be responsible for any materials provided for your use by your placement. You are responsible for any damage or loss you cause to such materials (directly or through neglect). You are responsible for any damage to your accommodation caused by you or any guest(s) of yours at your accommodation (directly or through neglect). You must dress appropriately for interviews and work. You must behave appropriately in accordance with locally accepted behaviour and custom during your placement. We do not accept responsibility for failure to secure work or dismissal from such work due to inappropriate dress or behaviour. You should be culturally sensitive all the time and must respect local culture. Visits from / to opposite sex is not encouraged while you are in the host family / organization due to culture sensitiveness. As you are not allowed to enter into intimate relationship with the member/volunteers/leaders/boards/as well as the key partnership leaders of the organization due to security/sensitive information/document and clashes of interest.

  1. WHEN DO I START?

Programs:

All IIMGC programs are listed on the program page click here for more details.

Program Dates:

Dates of your program are agreed prior to training in host country. You may leave your placement early with IIMGC agreement but no refund will be granted. You should arrive at least 3 days prior to the program orientation/training date. You may extend your volunteer period at the discretion of and with prior agreement of IIMGC provided monies for the extra days/months are paid in advance. When your placement is over you must leave your host family’s/community/hotel residence except there are delays in departure for which hotel cost shall be covered by the miscellaneous fee and which should not exceed 48 hours.

  1. DISCLAIMER NOTICE?

IIMGC reserves absolute discretion to accept or reject your form, any information that does not correspond to with the contact name and number. You warrant that by signing this form, it does not automatically qualify you to become a member /staff /volunteer of IIMGC. IIMGC reserve the right to cancel, withdraw or change the program at any time during your application. If your application is rejected IIMGC will have no further liabilities or obligation to you.

  1. LOCAL VOLUNTEER?

Local volunteers are volunteers within the same host country or community. We have different groups of local volunteers attached to different projects and programmes in our organization ranging from healthcare, education & education for the physically challenged, NGO management, agriculture, micro credit, cooperative & micro finance, peace & conflict resolution.

 

 

  1.  HOW DO LOCAL VOLUNTEERS APPLY?

Volunteers can apply either online or in person. They are required to provide their valid identification documents and Curriculum Vitae with 2 references signature, phone number and addresses.

  1.  WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD LOCAL VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE?

Volunteers are requested to provide the following:

  1. A valid identification documents.

  2. International Travel Document/ National Identity/Document/ Other.

  3. Four (8) 4x4 coloured passport photographs (white background).

  4. Curriculum Vitae.

  5. Copy of your certificates if any.

  6. A certified health report.

  7. Travel and Health Insurance if any.   

  8. Must provide Two (2) References.

  1.  ARE THERE FEES?

There is a membership fee of N6000, Six Thousand Naira only and Group Leader membership fee of N25,000 Twenty Five Thousand Naira only for (local indigenes) Please Learn more about the membership criteria below.

Training Completion Certificate $15 or Naira Equivalent

Local volunteers pay for monthly levy plus, these will be used for admin cost.

Please Note!: These fees are used for processing documents and administrative costs. We are self-funded hence we do not solely rely on project funds. All volunteers/members are required to attend programs/meetings and all events at the organization with their identification card provided by the organization.

 

  1.  WHAT ARE THE MEMBERSHIP/VOLUNTEERS TRAINING PROCEDURES?

There are three (3) types of trainings:

  1. Members/Volunteers Training: This involves the training of members/volunteers who joins IIMGC to become permanent members and trained in management, SWOT training etc

  2. Placement Training:

Training will be held in three sessions per week which is Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Training will commence from 4:00PM - 6.30PM (Additional times are sometimes observed)

 Important notice:  During intensive training, sessions could last from 4.00pm to 7.30pm

  1. WHAT IS THE CULTURE AND HOW STRONGLY IS IT OBSERVED?

Read a bit about the Nigerian culture & history:

Nigerian culture is as multi-ethnic as the people in Nigeria. The people of Nigeria still cherish their traditional languages, music, dance and literature. Nigeria comprises of three large ethnic groups, which are Yoruba, Hausa-Fulani and Igbo. However there are other ethnic groups as well. thus culture in Nigeria is most positively multi-ethnic which gives a lot of value to different types of arts, which primarily include ivory carving, grass weaving, wood carving, leather and calabash. Pottery, painting, cloth weaving and glass and metal works.

Nigerian clothing is unique and attractive. Lace, jacquard, adire, and ankara are some of the materials that are used to prepare dresses in Nigeria. Nigerian clothing for women include buba, kaba, iro, gele and iborun or ipele and Nigerian clothing for men include buba, fila, sokoto, abeti-aja and agbada. other than traditional attire, the people also wear western attires as well.

Nigeria officially the federal republic of Nigeria, is a federal constitutional republic comprising 36 states and its federal capital territory, Abuja. The country is located in West Africa and shares land borders with the republic of Benin in the west, chad and Cameroonian the east, and Niger in the north. Its coast in the south lies on the gulf of guinea on the Atlantic Ocean. There are over 500 ethnic groups in Nigeria of which the three largest ethnic groups are the Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.

The name Nigeria was taken from the Niger River running through the country. This name was coined by flora shaw, who later married baron Lugard, a British colonial administrator, in the late 19th century. The british colonised Nigeria in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, setting up administrative structures and law while recognizing traditional chiefs. Nigeria became independent in 1960. Several years later, it had civil war as Biafra tried to establish independence. Military governments in times of crisis have alternated with democratically elected governments.

Nigeria, known as “the giant of Africa”, is the most populous country in Africa and the seventh most populous country in the world. Nigeria is roughly divided in half between christians, who mostly live in the south and central parts of the country, and muslims, concentrated mostly in the north. a minority of the population practice traditional and local religions, including the Igbo and Yoruba religions. Its oil reserves have brought great revenues to the country. It is listed among the “next eleven” economies. Nigeria is a member of both the Commonwealth of Nations, and the African union.

  1. WILL IIMGC ARRANGE MY ACCOMMODATIONS WHEN I AM OUT FOR FIELD WORK?

Yes, IIMGC will. Although you are responsible for paying for your own accommodation during your registration procedures, therefore during field work your accommodation will be arranged accordingly. Interns usually stay at the Base Learning Centres (BLC) and have to pay on a daily basis for food and accommodation. They also have to pay for transportation (To be paid from your internship fee)

  1. WHAT WILL BE MY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION IN THE FIELD?

Interns usually move around on foot, in Kekenapep-(Tricycle) and Taxi,

WHAT FOOD WILL BE AVAILABLE TO ME IN THE FIELD?

The Local Nigeria Cuisine (LNC)usually serve which include rice, Stew, fish/chicken, Salaad  and vegetables soups. Bottle water will also be available.

  1. WHAT IS THE CUISINE LIKE?

Rice is a staple for Nigerians. Other than that, fish Pepper soup, chicken/beef, vegetables soups meal. A great variety of spices are used in Nigerian cuisine and snacks involve lots of deep-fried items such as egg roll, meat / chicken pie

  1. IS WESTERN CUISINE WIDELY AVAILABLE IN NIGERIA?

Yes it is. Supermarkets in Nigeria offer a large selection of local and international groceries. Many restaurants and bakeries also cater for people with a palate for international cuisines such as Continental, European, Italian, American, Chinese, Thai, Korean and Japanese, to name a few. A lot of these places will be at a close proximity from the interns’ residence.

  1. Will I have to drink bottled water in Nigeria?

Yes. Interns are advised to drink bottled water.

  1. What is considered appropriate clothing in Nigeria?

As a foreigner going to a Muslim country, you would be expected to show respect for the cultural differences in Nigeria. Interns are thus advised to conform to social norms when in the country. Men are advised to wear full length pants (shorts should not be worn to the field, nor at the head office) paired with t-shirts, shirts (long, traditional shirts for men). Women are advised to dress responsibly especially when out at the field. As long as the clothing is made of light material like cotton, covers the arms and legs and isn't tight fitting, you should be comfortable moving around.

  1. WHAT RECREATION OPTIONS DOES NIGERIA OFFER?

There are several restaurants, hotels, clubs and museums that offer recreation options. The internship coordinator will be able to advise you upon arrival.

  1. INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS?

 

  1. WHAT FACILITIES CAN I EXPECT TO AVAIL AS AN IIMGC INTERN?

These facilities include: Fully air-conditioned hotels rooms, swimming pool, Internet access, and good entertainment & recreational spots within the FCT. As for the office; you will get the normal office facilities except for the occasional power cut.

  1. WHAT IS THE EXPECTED OUTPUT FROM THE INTERNSHIP?

The expected output from the interns is specifically depending on conversations with the supervisor, most interns involved in research projects are expected to produce a report highlighting their research analysis and results. You can also offer a presentation to your department to explain your findings and foster discussion.

Will I get a recommendation letter or a certificate upon completion of my placement?

Sure; a letter of appreciation will be given to you upon completion of your assignment. Your direct supervisor may also be willing to write a personal recommendation and process your certificate.

  1.  WHAT LOCATION AM I EXPECTED TO REPORT TO?

You are expected to report to the IIMGC head Internship Base Center (IBC) for your program details.

  1. HOLIDAYS/TRAINING BREAKS?

  •  Holidays – IIMGC observes National holidays and Humanitarian Days

  • Breaks- IIMGC observes its own Breaks

  • During Political elections sessions are suspended.

  1.  HOW DOES ONE QUALIFY TO BECOME A MEMBER AND WHY ASK FOR MEMBERSHIP FEE?

Due to resource and fund constraints membership fee is used to strengthen organization operations, fostering leadership training, women in skill empowerment and engaging members in NGO management activities in order to meet up with international standards so as to strengthen and expand the scope of our service to humanity.

  1. EQUALITY?

The composition of IIMGC members should reflect a gender base balance and a broad range of skills and experience appropriate to the governing of the organization and should, as a group, possess the following general qualifications between them: Skills.

  1. SKILLS? 

Applicant must undergo a process and interview in other to be eligible to become IIMGC member. All IIMGC members must possess a significant quality which is Passion and dedication in humanitarian services, willingness, diligence and humility.

Applicant should possess at least knowledge and understanding of any of the followings:

Business, trade, marketing, Farming and the intersections between Poultry farming, Fishery, Snail farming, Animal husbandry, Waste management, Recycling, human right and humanitarian services, Manure making, Crop farming, Food processing, Food storage, Green energy, all-year-round (Irrigation) farming.

As well as possess adequate training, Micro-finance assistance, Experience in Poverty Eradication Methods, Experience in Health Problems, Conflict resolution, Policy and Legal matters, Human right law and policies, Migration, Gender and Sexuality, Waste recycle.

 

Ability to address the link between the relevance experience in Community-based Development Projects/Organizations as well as worsening poverty situations worldwide, Education and Women rights’ issues.

  1. MAJOR REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERS ARE AS FOLLOWS?

  1. Experience in participatory approaches to capacity building

  2. Established competence in organizational management and development

  3. Experience in financial management, grant making and grants management

  4. Knowledge of issues related to technical assistance

  5. Experience in policy, advocacy, resource mobilization and fundraising and volunteer managements.

All new membership applicants must undergo at least 1-3 month’s rigorous training on NGO management and SWOT Analysis. Following which a test will be carried out for the new members. Once an applicant has successfully completed his/her Basic Training (BT) and assessments he/she will automatically become a member of IIMGC.

All IIMGC approved members are required to attend IIMGC seminars, meetings, trainings and workshop. And long-standing members will be issued a Certificate of excellence based on the Boards approval.

  1.  DO YOU DO EVENTS?

Event are managed and planned within the organization. We run and participate in several events which engage in humanitarian and developmental activities.

  1.  ARE COOPRATE BODIES ALLOWED TO PLAY A ROLE?

Humanity is too important and delicate to be left alone. It is therefore a collective effort comprising all other stakeholders including, and not limited to industries, civil society, religious groups, environmentalists and individuals.
